Elizabeth has been studying bottlenose dolphins in the Indian River Lagoon, Florida for over 20 years. Her research focuses include extensive social network analyses of the IRL dolphin population which have been applied to various epidemiological studies, as well as epidermal diseases and other rare skin disorders. Elizabeth has numerous peer-reviewed publications, conference presentation and public lectures, and was recently chosen to present her work in the exclusive Marine Mammal Science Editor’s Select Series. Elizabeth has extensive experience in photo-identification techniques and analysis, social network theory and dolphin health assessments. Prior to her research on marine mammals, Elizabeth studied vocalizations and social behavior in wild chimpanzees. Elizabeth is also a freelance medical illustrator, using her wide range of scientific studies to support her understanding of complex medical subjects.
