Istvan (Steve) Diossy is a self-taught artist, based in Vero Beach, Florida who at the age of 16 won first place and presidential recognition for a sculpture depicting Michelangelo’s The Florentine Pietà. Throughout the years, Diossy continued to progress as an artist, developing a unique style enhanced by his fine art background and an extensive knowledge of caricature and graphic design.

Through his artwork, Diossy reflects a great love of his community and natural surroundings. As an avid surfer and ocean advocate, Steve fuels his inspiration and endless desire to create vividly humorous and color-driven works of art. In 1998, The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution commissioned Diossy to design the Protect Wild Dolphins specialty license plate, which became Florida’s #1 bestselling specialty plate for more than a decade. Since that time, Diossy has lent his creative and technical talents to design several other top selling ocean themed specialty plates, helping to raise millions in funding to support vital research, education, and conservation programs. He has also collaborated with other renowned marine artists of the sea including Wyland and Guy Harvey.

Since his first Florida license plate design in 1998, Diossy has donated his time and artistic talent to help protect Florida's natural resources. His efforts have helped to raise millions of dollars for marine mammal research as well as other environmental initiatives throughout Florida. His most recent design - the Protect Marine Wildlife specialty plate - is destined to become another #1 bestseller and will benefit organizations like DPMMR who work to protect threatened and protected marine wildlife throughout the State of Florida.
